| UPDATE July 2008:
*** Colorado draw results are now available on the DOW web site. We expect left-over licenses to go on sale in August. OTC bull elk licenses are still available for archery, 2nd and 3rd rifle season. *** Our 2007 hunts were among our best ever and we had a fantastic year with 16 bulls, 14 cow elk and some great mule deer bucks killed. Please be sure to look at the pictures provided in the web site. All the game pictured was taken from our camps and in the surrounding area. We are finding some great shed antlers this year telling us some tremendous bucks and bulls are out still out there! *** We have guided archery hunts available for $2750 per hunter. This represents your best chance to get on a quality bull, and this is a very fair rate for high quality, pack-in hunt for elk. Prime dates towards the end of September are available and the bulls will be in full rut and bugling. *** We hunt from two guided camps in our traditional high country basin areas. These camps offer us the best opportunity of getting hunters on great bulls high on the mountain, and if the elk are low we can always drop down too. Guided hunts are on a 2X1 basis and we run small camps, usually with only four hunters per camp. Single hunters are welcome as we will match hunters as necessary. Our cabin is available for self guided hunting and we will continue to offer several drive-to (4WD necessary) drop camps. |

Hello, I am Alan Palmer and I hope you enjoy my web site. Complete information on all my hunts, including prices, lots of pictures and references can be found by using the links provided below. My mule deer, antelope and elk hunts are in the northern end of the San Luis Valley and the adjacent mountain ranges. We are located approximately one hour north of Alamosa and 2 and 1/2 hours southwest of Colorado Springs. We operate on private land, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property and the Rio Grande National Forest under the USFS Sauguache Ranger District. We are an equal opportunity employer and service provider operating under license #1714.
Hunting here is fantastic due to the variety of habitat available to our big game populations. We are fortunate to have well-watered grass in the San Luis Valley all surrounded by some of the most beautiful high country and mountains in all of Colorado. It is not uncommon during a day of hunting to see antelope, elk and mule deer. The elk population in the mountains surrounding the San Luis Valley has never been higher, and thanks to the limited buck deer tags our mule deer are reaching 4-5 years old with great antlers. Antelope hunting around here has always been great and you will see plenty of quality bucks during your hunt with us. Local ranches grow plenty of alfalfa which helps keep our game animals well fed!
Our guided camps are limited to 4 hunters which allows us to provide excellent service and helps give everyone the best possible chance at seeing and harvesting game. I also provide self-guided, drive to (4WD) drop camp hunting from comfortable fully outfitted tent camps, and I have available a beautiful log cabin for for those who want the extra comfort of a kitchen, hot showers, flush toilets and comfortable beds. From the cabin we provide self guided hunts and we'll also use the cabin during the late rifle seasons as a base camp.
As an avid hunter myself, I have had the privilege of hunting this valley and the surrounding mountains for years and have taken deer, big horn sheep, elk, antelope, bear, mountain goat, and turkey. My knowledge of the land and its game, and my many years of Colorado hunting will help you have a great hunt. While all our hunters do not harvest game, everyone sees animals and most get at least one shot opportunity. That's why it's called hunting! Complete information on all our hunts and outfitting services can be found by clicking on the links below. After viewing the information, please feel free to call or write so I can answer any questions you may have.
We are a small, family run business with many repeat clients who come hunt with us year after year. With those folks we have become good friends. Please call soon and try a hunt with us and I'm confident you too will be returning to the wonderful San Luis Valley. Brian I look forward to welcoming you to Colorado!
Sincerely,
Alan Palmer
